My five-year-old, today

One of the things we're working on right now with R2 is conflict resolution/problem solving.  She's great at helping others solve problems or conflicts, but when they are her own, that's often another story (sounds like her mother...so we're starting early with her).  This evening just before dinner, C2 came right up to where R2 was eating her appetizer and swiped it from her.  She yelled in frustration and ran to her room.  When I went to get her, we talked about how important it is for her to stay and use words to solve the problem, with help from Mommy or Daddy when she needs it, otherwise we just have another problem.  We agreed she would stay and use words the next time.

Not surprisingly, it wasn't long before the opportunity arose.  We were all in her room doing some clean up.  She did some dusting.  Then she neatly arranged two little rugs at the entrance to her room.  C2 came up and took off with both rugs.  To her credit, she didn't yell.  She used words to very loudly announce to R1 and me that C2 took her rugs and so he was going to get a feather duster in his face!

Truly, sometimes it's all I can do not to burst out laughing!  With a straight face, I reminded her to use words to explain to C2 how she felt when he took the rugs and that she wants them back.  She did a fabulous job!  And he is easily entreated.  The rugs were returned.  All was well....for at least 5 minutes.

This is our little angel girl in her new dress, just before church today.  (Thank you, Nana)
Oh, and she chose the big bow, too.
And she posed herself.

And this is my funny girl this afternoon.  She posed herself with the lavender for her room,
and the potted plants in the background.
She also selected the face.
