Way back in October, R2, C2 and I went to OSH. As we walked in, R2 saw a 3-foot pink, shimmery tree. It was love at first sight. We didn't buy it--it wasn't in our budget, I told her. She kept a stiff upper lip until we got to the car. Her broken heart nearly broke mine.
Several days later we went into a craft store, and what to our wondering eyes should appear, but a pink cashmere tree! Half the size, half the price. We bought it. She has been overjoyed ever since. We set it up that very day. She placed her rhinestone-ish tiara with a pink feather boa-type band right at the top of her little tree. It sat on our mantel throughout November. Then in December, it settled in her room surrounded by one strand of purple lights and another strand of many colors. My little girl sleeps with all those lights on every night.
Just this last weekend we went to the beach. I finally convinced her to let me take her pink tree so we'd have at least one Christmassy decoration while we were there. She and C2 put miniature balls on the tree. Then we artfully arranged a white sheet at the bottom for our snow.
