While Daddy's Away

R1 was away for a soccer tournament for a few days, so the three of us that remained had to figure out how to fill our days.  Daddy is an important person in our house.

The first day it seemed like we all panicked a little bit.  The kid's cried for him every once in a while.  I just gave up and took them for chicken nuggets as a late dinner, hoping they'd both fall asleep in the car.  No such luck.

We filled our second day with two super duper play dates.  One at the park and the second on the train and at a restaurant for dinner.  Still no shortage of tears for Daddy.  We sent him text messages full of love and even a song. Oh, and a request for presents.  At 4 a.m., as I was putting C2 back into his bed, he said in a sleepy voice, "Miss Dada." and went to sleep.  Whew!

The third day, R2 and C2 took matters into their own hands.  They packed up two wagons and a suitcase full of their clothes and went on a pretend trip to the beach.  The couch was their car, onto which they lifted all their stuff for the trip.  R2 convinced C2 to wear a girl bathing suit.  They were deep into their play!

The last day it rained and rained, but they didn't care.  They played school.  C2 accessorized for this school day.  He loves the noise those shoes make as he clomps through the house.

R2 and I also put together a new dining room table and rearranged our living room while Daddy was away and C2 was asleep.

Despite all these adventures, the best part of our whole weekend was when Daddy came home!!
